University of York, UK: The University of York was founded in the early 1960s in the period's expansion of the United Kingdom Higher Education. It quickly grew in size and developed a national and international reputation for the quality of its academic provision and its research. Today it is consistently in the top ten UK universities in newspaper league tables. The University total business turnover is in excess of £100m annually. The Department of Electronics is a strong department within the University with over 450 registered students, 30 academic staff and approximately 30 support staff.
Tony Ward is a senior lecturer in engineering management with specific responsibility for the management programmes and for the development of behavioural, business and enterprise skills in its students. He is also the Enterprise Learning Manager for the University as a whole. Tony was one of the academic advisors to the Career-Space consortium project, the project manager of the PanICT project (a project to investigate the provision of ICT skills to first cycle degree students across Europe), participated in the European projects GENIUS and currently eTUTOR and the CEDEFOP project on the proposal of vocational training in ICT across Europe. He lectures annually on a range of management topics including accounting and finance for engineers and has developed a complete e-Learning course in project management.
